Frequently Asked Questions
Where does Proof store my photos?
Proof references the folders you choose instead of copying everything into a separate cloud library. Your originals stay in place on disk.
Where is my catalog stored?
Your catalog is stored in a SQLite database at ~/Library/Application Support/Proof/. Back it up like any other important file.
How do I add a folder?
Click the + button in the sidebar and choose a folder. Proof indexes it immediately and builds thumbnails in the background.
How do I delete rejected photos?
Mark shots as Rejected with the X key, then press Backspace / Delete. Proof moves rejected photos to the macOS Trash.
Does Proof work without an internet connection?
Yes. No internet connection is required for core workflow features. On launch, Proof may contact GitHub to check whether a newer version is available.
Is Proof signed, notarized, and safe to run?
Proof is signed with a verified Apple Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and distributed through a tamper-evident update channel. Read the Security & Trust page for verification commands and details about what Proof can access.
Is Proof free during beta?
Yes. Proof is in beta development and can be downloaded for free. If you choose to support development through the pay-what-you-want option, that contribution is voluntary and non-refundable except where required by law. Read the Beta & Contributions page for details.
Where can I see what changed?
Read the Release Notes for the newest Proof updates, fixes, and under-the-hood changes.
How do I report a bug?
Beta testers can use the dedicated feedback form, which asks for the app version, macOS version, and reproduction steps. For a quick support request, use the contact form above.
